Nashim: From Where Does My Help Come?

Nashim: From Where Does My Help Come?
A Jewish Meditation Retreat for Women
With Rebecca Schisler, Rabbi Batsheva Meiri, and Dr. Sheila Katz

Our retreat falls during the Weeks of Consolation on the Hebrew calendar, between Tisha B'av, marking the collapse of what we held sacred, and Rosh Hashana, a time of profound spiritual renewal. We are invited to trust that something new and beautiful will be born of what we've lost and what we've lived.

I lift my eyes to the mountains - from where does my help come?, wrote the psalmist. Inspired and aided by Jewish tradition and mindfulness practice, we will explore the sources of our deepest support and allow ourselves to be held by the greater whole of which we're each a part. Together, we will open to receive guidance and love from our own wisdom, one another, the earth, the tradition, and the divine itself.

The retreat will include daily chant, prayer, meditation instruction, teaching, movement, Q&A, and meetings with teachers. Within the nourishing and sacred container of retreat community, we will create a unique space for the emergence of women’s wisdom, depth of practice, empowerment and creative blossoming.

Nashim: Awakening Our Joy

Nashim: Awakening Our Joy
An Jewish Meditation Retreat for Women
with Rebecca Schisler, Rabbi Batsheva Meiri, and Sheila Katz

Join us for a virtual 4-day Jewish meditation retreat for self-identifying women of all ages and stages of meditation experience. We will come together in social silence to dive deep into mindfulness practice, a transformative and heart-opening process that enables us to cultivate insight and compassionate action in our lives and the world.

Our retreat falls on Rosh Hodesh Adar, a month in which we are meant to 'increase our joy' as we ready ourselves for the holiday of Purim and its themes of concealment and revelation, the complex heroism of Vashti and Esther, playfulness, and radical not-knowing. With practices of mindfulness and loving-kindness, we grow our capacity for emotional resiliency and well-being as we cultivate gratitude, wisdom and joy - even in the midst of global crisis.

The retreat will include daily chant, prayer, meditation instruction, teaching, movement, time for Q&A, and meetings with teachers to support each one’s practice. Within the nourishing and sacred container of community, we will create a unique space for the emergence of women’s wisdom, depth of practice, empowerment and creative blossoming.

Preparing Our Hearts for Yom Kippur

Teshuva, Forgiveness, Joy & Love: a Joint Project of Or Ha Lev and HaMakom

with Rabbi Dr. James Jacobson Maisels, Rabbi Danny Newman and Rebecca Schisler

Yom Kippur is an opportunity for extraordinarily deep and transformative practice - if, and only if, our hearts are ready. In this retreat we will begin the transformation of our hearts, bodies, minds and souls through practice, reflection and exploration grounded in Jewish mindfulness practice.

The retreat will include daily chanting as well as opportunities for dialogic work and a beautiful sense of community and connection, even though we are physically apart. There will also be opportunities for group meditation, meetings with the teachers and communal question and answer sessions. Through our work together, we will touch the transformative power of those qualities available to us in the days leading up to Yom Kippur for the renewal, repair and recalibration of our relationships with ourselves, others and the worlds we inhabit.

Nashim: a Jewish Meditation Retreat for Women

Nashim: a Jewish Meditation Retreat for Women
with Rebecca Schisler, Rabbi Batsheva Meiri, and Sheila Katz

Sponsored by the Awakened Heart Project & Or Ha Lev

Join us for a virtual 4-day Jewish meditation retreat for self-identifying women of all ages and stages of meditation experience. We have done several online Zoom retreats, and have found the experience to be a lovely and effective opportunity to integrate the practice into life at home. We will come together in social silence to dive deep into mindfulness practice, a transformative and heart-opening process that enables us to cultivate insight and compassionate action in our lives and the world.

The apex of the retreat falls on Tisha B’Av, a holy day in Jewish time that marks the collapse of sacred structures, and devastation of all we depend on. We plumb the depths of loss to begin our journey home to renewal and inspiration.
